Iceland, Jan Mayen and Svalbard
Discover the staggering beauty of Iceland’s Westfjords, Svalbard’s spectacular northwest, and remote and seldom-visited Jan Mayen island – the world’s northernmost active volcanic island, on your once-in-a-lifetime Arctic adventure. Zodiac cruise under dramatic bird cliffs in Iceland’s staggeringly beautiful Westfjords, and kayak through pack ice, keeping an eye out for breaching whales and enigmatic walrus as you go. You’ll also sail within 600 miles of the magical North Pole and be one of the few people in the world to visit remote Jan Mayen Island.
For your awe-inspiring 11-day adventure, you’ll enjoy full board on the Greg Mortimer, a purpose-built expedition vessel that’s capable of negotiating the strongest winds and waves. Featuring unique hydraulic viewing platforms and specially designed Zodiac launching platforms, you’ll be able to get the best possible views of the spectacular landscape and the elusive wildlife in their natural habitat. After a long day in the wild, learn more about the region with a presentation in the spacious lecture room, treat yourself to a massage in the Wellness Centre or enjoy a drink with newfound friends in one of the bars and lounges. When it’s time to dine, meals are served in the large dining room, where you can indulge in a range of house wines, beers and soft drinks with dinner. You’re also welcome to 24-hour complimentary coffee, tea and snack facilities, so you’ll never be hungry or thirsty. At the end of the day, relax and unwind in your beautiful Balcony Stateroom, with floor to ceiling windows, and prepare yourself for another exhilarating Arctic day ahead!
