Launched in 1935 and broadcast on Radio Luxembourg each Sunday evenings, the League of Ovaltineys had five million club members by 1939.
Children who joined the club were sent an official rulebook that contained secret signs and signals & even the ovaltineys song.
There was a regular comic that was inserted into established penny comics like The Chuckler and The Rattler.
Of course, we all seem to remember the old ovaltine song ‘We are the Ovaltineys’ because the club was revived in 1952 and again in the late 1960s when Morecambe and Wise became presidents of the Ovaltiners Club.
