Platform Shoes

For those of you who are fans of Bargain Hunt on BBC One you may recognise some of these Platform Shoes, in a recent episode they visited Portobello Road and then came on to the Museum of Brands. One of the items you may have seen (I hope) is an early 1970s pair of platform shoes that were once worn on stage by Dave Hill of Slade.

Some eye catching platform shoes

On many occasions I have had the uplifting experience of dancing in these flash four-inch-heel wonder shoes – dangerous, but seriously fun.

Funky platform shoes were the fashion statement that started in 1972. The style was quickly taken up as the glam look for pop stars. I have another pair of Dave Hill’s platforms that have six-inch high heel platform shoes, but they are a little too high to do much in except sway.
