Do you remember watching it on a TV?

The most celebrated anniversary of last year was the royal marriage in 1947, between Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten (later to be known as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh).

At the time, so soon after the end of the Second World War and with rationing as bad as ever, few raw materials could be spared for souvenirs.

Magazine covers did their best to make a colourful splash, but there was little commemorative ware and none of the traditional tins.
